Religion
There were many varieties of religion during the Tang dynasty. The first religion that occurred in the Tang dynasty was Confucianism. Confucianism is a religion that studies peace, justice and a high value of education. Another religion in the Tang dynasty was Buddhism. Buddhism is a religion that teaches many concepts of life and wisdom. Taizong Gaozu's son was the next emperor. Even though his father did not like Buddhism Taizong had some interest in it. When Taizong became emperor he decided to add another religion to the Tang dynasty even though he wasn't a Buddhist or really knew a lot about it. A Buddhist is a person who teaches Buddhism. Buddhism changed china in a lot of ways. One way that Buddhism changed china was that people started to change their religion and practice Buddhism. When they practiced Buddhism they would find their inner peace and monks would sing for the dead. Later in the Tang dynasty some people started to be concerned about how Buddhism beliefs would affect their Chinese culture. Emperor Wuzong did not like this religion at all so he started to attack the Buddhist monks. Wuzong forced 260,000 monks and nuns to stop these religous practices and live a normal life. Once he did this he destroyed artistic painting and staues that were related to the religion.
